Antietam National Battlefield

Sorry for the lack of Feisty festivities. Dinah got a job and has been busy. This weekend Feisty and I resumed our touring activities. I now present you with pictures from our latest activity ... touring Antietam National Battlefield. Antietam National Battlefield is a famous Civil War battlefield. On September 17, 1862, the bloodiest battle in American war history took place there. The current Battlefield is one of the most beautiful, serene places I have ever been and it is hard to imagine that 150 years ago such a devastating event took place.
Feisty was fascinated by the history of Antietam.

96 monuments dot the landscape of Antietam
Hi Feisty
Feisty's dad found her a four leaf clover
In addition to monuments, farms also dot the landscape
This farm has a furry inhabitant of the groundhog variety
Feisty found some lovely flowers
Feisty thought this statue was handsome
This small cemetery resides on the Mumma farm
The rolling fields are just beautiful
"Mortuary Cannons" are placed on the spot where a General was killed. Six Generals were killed during the battle, three Confederate and three Union.
Beautiful rolling hills
Feisty maneuvered these stairs like a champ
Feisty and her dad on Burnside's Bridge. The bridge is named after one Major General Ambrose Burnside from the Union army
I see you are taking my picture

Feisty got her strength back
The cemetery is so peaceful and serene
The monument in Antietam National Cemetery has "Not For Themselves But For Their County" engraved on it
Only Union soldiers are buried here
So lovely

Before we left, Feisty decided she needed to try a hill roll

Brookside Gardens

Today, Feisty, her mom, and I, visited Brookside Gardens. It was beautiful.
There were gorgeous flowers everywhere!
Feisty loved this bench...
...and this one. She is a big fan of intricate leg poses. That's right Feisty, turn those legs into a pretzel.
Azaleas were in bloom EVERYWHERE.
Feisty is skipping for joy!
So pretty.

American History Museum

On the last day of Feisty's spring break, I decided to take her to the American History Museum.
Here is Feisty on the metro. Earlier that day, Feisty surprise-attacked her mom and successfully knocked out her other loose tooth.
When Feisty hangs out with Dinah, she gets soda.
Feisty wanted to see the Washington Monument before we went home.
